this saturday is like, pure win.

Grabe!

I never thought that Saturday could have so much stuff going on!

The day opens with discovering the happyness that is Google Analytics. I started reading about it because I was looking for a stat counter for The SIS blog, our first team blog created with love. I managed to get a good host for the WordPress.org account that we got. The fee sounds good, considering that the host we got seems to be made for WordPress.org itself. For now, I love the way I get to really be responsible for the site. Filezilla rocks by the way, FTP ftw.

Ate launched the Sis blog today. We are both so proud of it. ^__^. Drop by when you have time. Usap nga namin ni ate kanina, the Sis blog is a positive place. :] We want to fill you too with positive things XD!! Here’s my post on Growing Up in Pasay City which I submitted there. ^^

Jonard and Magz ^^ at Cosplay Mania X

Later in the afternoon, I have gone to MOA because of the Cosplay Mania X. I used to be a cosplayer myself, and a fan pero during the cosplay event kanina, I really felt like I was starting to outgrow it. Sure, it was fun to go in there, with all the people and with all the anime-related things, pero everybody is just so young! Children, pre-teens and teenagers – those are the main audience. : ( I like wearing the cute little hats though. ^^ uweee! Jan and I also met with one of my officemates Magz and her friend Jonard. ^^ It was great seeing you guys!

Hmm.. ano pa ba.

Oh, mag ingat mag Sushi buffet pagkat masarap ang sushi sa Sakae Sushi at MOA and super nakakabusog. haha! Grabe. Jan and I ate a lot. -_- Busog na busog ako. This place in MOA called Sakae Sushi, meron sila conveyor ng mga different kisnd of sushi! The price of the sushi depends on the color of the plate you get. ^^ May times na hindi sushi ung nasa plate. Sometimes may fried squid and this thing that looks like laing. The most expensive ones are those on red plates. Sila rin pinakamasarap usually. : D The miso soup is also good in that place. :] The only other place na alam ko maligaya ang Miso soup ay Yoshinoya. : D

Oh noes.

I was debating whether uwi na ba ako or not. These past few days, I begin to appreciate ang masasayang moments pag nasa bahay na. Being a home buddy is starting to grow on me. Dati, I always felt like such a loser pag umuuwi agad nang maaga, and feeling ko malulungkot lang ako. Pero hindi na ngayon! ahehe. Anyway, ayun ayun! So nag baba na lang ako kay Jan sa Resorts World. ^_^ Andun kasi si Ate and her friends and isip ko sabay na ko pauwi.

At huwaaaw! Award! Maligaya pala dun at maunlad. Kayalang hindi pa bukas ang karamihan ng stores, pero it seems rather nice para sakin. I love how it looks cozy tapos ang ganda ng lights and hindi crowded *__* (uwaa pangarap). So of course, being in a new and fascinating place, I did not waste time, brought out my camera and started shooting. Yeaaaaahhhh!!!

But the adventure doesn’t have to stop there. We wanted to buy a cake, and walang bakeshop na Red Ribbon or Sugarhouse sa Resorts World. So, Ate insisted na we should go to Glorietta just to get the cakes. Remember, the goal was to get cakes. When we got there, nag dinner na rin kami, found and bought some nice clothes, got those yummy french truffles, looked at some books and then decided to go home. Masaya rin pala “bumili ng cake”.  Hehe. Actually, kaya walang cake kasi … PHASED OUT NA DAW SA RED RIBBON ANG BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA…..

Pero okay lang yun.

At Resorts World - A view of the Republiq, taken from the second floor. ^^

Ang malupet, ako nag drive pauwi, all the way home. Nervous again, pero I believe I am getting better.

Ang mas malupet, ako uli nag pasok sa maligayang, pang-bulilit na street namin at sa gate! This time, faster than the last time nag pasok ako ng car sa gate. Hehe.

Pero wait …. meron pa pinaka malupet na nangyari sa araw na to…

Natapos na mag patch SUCCESSFULLY ang Starcraft 2 ko! WAHAHAHAH!!! Pure win. Kasi I was able to get my new laptop from dad. As soon as I got it up and running with all the firewalls and antivirus, I excitedly installed SC2 with shaking fingers. Took a while, tapos later ayaw mag patch! Grabe! Looked around online kung bakit ayaw, tapos like 4 days later … ayun. Okay na.

XD waaaa!

Now, if you guys will just excuse me… Jim Raynor has still to complete some missions. ^____________________^ OH YEAAAH. I need to practice really well. All of my SC2 mentors are really good already. Hehe.

on the last day of my favorite month

Napatingin ako kanina sa calendar ko and noticed that it’s the last day of September. Oh no, 2010 is going to end soon, and what have I accomplished so far? Well, to tell you the truth… I am proud to say na I was able to make changes in my life.

Let’s begin with September alone (flips through my Belle De Jour planner):

.

1. September marks the day I was able to receive my first salary in my new company. Woohoo!

A quiet afternoon, reading the final book of Hunger Games.

A quiet afternoon, reading the final book of Hunger Games.

2. I was also able to have my “me” time in Diamond Hotel.

3. I was able to meet and tour (a little) Jackie, a foreign visitor from Taiwan, with Tinnie and Gail. We were able to go to the new Ayala Museum for the first time. It was a good experience, I would recommend that place to you guys.

4. A lot of my close friends, my mom, my dad and myself had our birthdays. ^^ Yehey! One of the reasons why September is a month I always wait for. I love birthdays! ^^

5. This is also the month when Mom went to the US for good to be with Dad. Now that they’re together, I realize that that’s how it should have been. :]

6. I was able to win 2 free advanced screening tickets  in a radio contest! Legend of the Guardians FTW! XD. Natuwa ako when I heard sa radio, “And our winner for today is Terri dela Cruz from Pasay City!” Sabi ko nga sa FB status ko dati, it was like seeing yourself as extra sa TV tapos kumakaway sa background.

7. Dad sent me Penpen and my new kick-ass HP laptop. KAYALANG AYAW PARIN MADOWNLOAD NG SC2 PATCH! *baaaaawwww* sniff sniff.

8. My clearance from the previous company has been completed and signed! ^^ Yehey! Masaya ang mangyayari after three weeks. /gg

9. I was able to see and have dinner with my batchmates from Action from AWS! XD Nakita ko na rin ang super cute ko na inaanak na si Jerry ^^. The boy is pure talent and cuteness. *__*

with Aleena and Jeff Lui

10. I was able to give something dun kay lola na nasa Quezon Ave sometimes. She’s an old lady na nanlilimos sa may baba ng MRT. She holds out a sign na “Onting tulong para po sa aking mata.” I don’t know if it’s just a gimmick, pero I just know na I want to help. Sometimes I give her food instead of money. Naisip ko nga dati na sumulat sa Wish Ko Lang sa GMA, malapit lang naman ung GMA sa Quezon Ave. Hehe.

11. I have also become a “ninang” (godmother) for the second time. This time sa isang cute baby girl ni Pearlyshell. ^_^

12. Another change. Something that will change me so much. haaay.

.

Ayan, now I wonder what will October bring? It’s the last quarter of 2010… gotta make the most out of it. :]

Miss, Umiiyak ka ba?

.

A repost from exactly one year ago.

by Elle Cross on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 6:03pm

—————————————————————————————————-

Gabi na nung time na yun, galing ako ng piano lessons ko from Lopez sa may Sucat.

Sumakay ako ng jeep na pa-baclaran and nag bayad. “Bayad po, isang MIA lang.” Kasi from MIA, I go down there and then take a taxi papunta sa Tramo. Tapos, umupo ako sa may directly likod ni mamang driver, kasi nga gabi na yun and natatakot ako umupo sa may door.

After a few minutes, pinatugtog ang isa na namang love song at naalala ko na naman SIYA. Tapos medyo na-emo ako -_- and di napigilang umiyak. Taga Sucat din kasi ung si guy. So Sucat sort of reminds me of them.

So nung medyo malapit na ko sa bababaan ko, medyo nag *sniff sniff* na lang ako. Trying to fight back tears, when manong driver suddenly asked me, “Miss, umiiyak ka ba?”

I felt so embarrassed so sabi ko, “ay naghihikab lang po.” Okay, so nag drive lang si kuya.

After a few seconds, sabi uli ni mamang driver, “kasi MIA na to.”

ONLY THEN did I realize ang totoo.

Kala ko sabi ni mamang driver, “Miss, umiiyak ka ba?”

YUN PALA

“Miss, MIA ka ba?!”

時間をまもる。 jikan o mamoru.

During our discussion this morning on differences between the Japanese and Filipino IT business practice, we have discussed about how the Japanese are very particular with time.

We have discussed that for the Filipinos, it’s not a big deal if you’re late when you’re meeting with someone. It’s actually expected that somebody will always be more than 30 minutes late when you’re going to meet with someone.

However, for the Japanese, it’s a must to be there 5 minutes before the meeting time. Even 30 minutes is better, for you to be prepared and for you to be able to mitigate your risks of  failure.

Then Hanagata-san said, when he meets with his girlfriend, he has to be there 30 minutes or even 1 hour before. We were all like,  “…eehhhhh?! O_O”

Because the girlfriend is a very important customer, ne? ^^ and as we have discussed, we are aiming to not just meet but to exceed customer satisfaction.

how i lost my phone (what really happened)

EXCITING VERSION:

It was a quiet Saturday evening. The kind that you’d just spend a nice dinner with a loved one and not care about the time. It was a good night, actually. But I wasn’t here for recreation.

My partner and I were inconspicuously (read as “pa-innocent effect”) strolling around greenbelt park. We knew that we couldn’t afford to lose the target tonight. They wouldn’t like that sort of incompetence back in the HQ. So before going to the location, we made sure that we have covered all of the basics in espionage training and brought all equipment needed.

I looked down on my watch, “It’s almost time.” I told my partner.

He just nodded and straightened up his suit. “Is the stealth jet waiting?”

“Hai. I just confirmed.”

“Good, let’s go in.”

The place was not crowded at all, which was surprising since I heard that this was quite a popular dining area in Greenbelt 5. The ambiance was wonderful, and the smell of good tuna dinner was invading my senses. I suddenly wished that I was here on a date and not a mission.

Resisting the urge to pout, I concentrated on the mission at hand. Upon entering the front door of the restaurant, it wasn’t a surprise that we were already being expected. My partner, was the least shocked too.

“There you are.” A man from the far corner said. There were five of them. Them, who were also after our very own mission. They were seated in the far corner of the place, four overgrown, hulking-looking men surrounding the small man in the middle.

He’s the target. But not tonight.

“Did you bring it?” My partner asked.

“Why are you in such a hurry? Why don’t you sit down over here?” He motioned for two of his henchmen to move away. We were treading on unsure waters, and we both knew it. The more we stay, more lives were being put in peril.

“We do not have time. You are aware of that.” My partner said. We took a few steps closer, just enough to give a clue that the exchange should be done as immediate as possible.

I wasn’t speaking much here. I was instructed not to or else our cover will be blown.  I looked to my right side, where I was holding my partner’s arm. He speaks so differently during missions like this. If you would look at him, it seemed like he was relaxed. But when it’s this close, I could feel that his shoulder and arm muscles were tense. As if they’re ready to spring up in case of an attack.

“Very well. Did you bring what I need?” The man asked us.

That was my cue. I carefully opened my purse. Slowly and making sure that they see it to prove that we’re not going to bring out a gun or something. I rummaged a little and finally took  out my mobile phone.  It was a simple nokia N70.

“The card that you want is in there. Hand us first the key.” My partner said.

“Very good.” He smiled. “Give them the key and make the exchange now.”

The key was small. It was golden and it looked plain if you looked at it. As the key was being handed to us, everything happened so fast I barely had time to react. My partner quickly grabbed the key and threw a small smoke bomb in the floor which caused a rapid chaos inside.

Since we were not far from the door, we ran outside to escape. I was holding the phone in my hand with a deathly grip.

“Did you feel something weird about that room?!” I asked my partner while I struggled to not trip on my stilettos.  I was just discovering that they’re not made for running.

“Yes! It was damn rigged with explosive tags! WATCH OUT!!” A swift kunai flew past me, narrowly missing my right arm by a few centimeters.

We ran until the 4th floor, it was a restricted area since the whole floor was still under construction. We could feel the heat from that floor, I guess air conditioning still haven’t reached here. Just near fire exit, we found a tall wall and scampered behind it to hide.

“I have an idea!” He exclaimed, “gimme your phone.”

“What?! We can’t give this to them! It was just the bait!” I held my phone close to my heart. It had a  silver lock accessory dangling on it.

“No, take out the card and I’ll replace the card with something else.”

“But…”

He grabbed my N70 from my hands and took out the memory card from the side and replaced it with something which I immediately recognized as one of Neri’s inventions. “Come on. We need to do this now,” He explained as he snapped shut my phone. “…or they will catch up with us. Our stealth jet is not here yet!!”

We heard the footsteps rushing to the fourth floor as four of our enemy’s bodyguards chased after us.

“Get it if you want it!” My partner threw my phone as far as he can away from us, distracting their attentions. “Come on. “Then he grabbed my arm and we ran to the nearest stairs that leads to the roof.

I vaguely heard the man behind us, “Forget about them, retrieve the phone now!”

When we finally reached the roof, a strong gust of wind blew past us. The stealth jet was finally here to pick us up.

“What are you pouting about?” I heard my partner asked beside me.

Shortly, I heard an explosion, somewhere in the fourth floor. Good thing there were no civilians on that floor. I guess the explosive card my partner put in my phone worked.

“The dangling Lock keychain on my phone was special to me.  You have the key. ” I pouted. “Now it’s gone.”

“We’ll just buy a new pair. ”

I sighed. We will just get a new pair.

It can be replaced after all, but our lives cannot be.

fine dining at Kai with Jan. :D

In the evening,  I usually do not go home yet from alabang office. I would take bus bound for ortigas, and get off at Ayala Station. I just have gotten used to it. Now, most of the nights, if I get to go home early, I would hang around with some friends in Ayala Makati first. Sometimes with officemates, sometimes with college friends, sometimes with my fellow creative writers…  On rare occassions, by myself.

Sometimes, I’m scared walking around makati during rush hours though. I’m afraid that I will see them. I don’t know yet how to react. I still haven’t played that scene yet in my head. Would I just pretend not to see them or something? hehe.

So a while ago, an old barkada and I met up to have our weekly chat. We usually do this kasi it’s fun. hehe. Being the natural geeks that we are, I guess.

Now Jan and I, we like eating.  We also like eating at fancy restaurants. Pero tipid modes parin. haha. We knew na around Greenbelt 5, meron nung mga maliliit na mga restaurants, na hindi ganun kamahal pero fancy tingnan. So nag tingin tingin kami. A few lakad later, lo and behold!

KAI.  Greenbelt 5. Right in front of that koi fish pond sa may Ayala Museum.

Sabi ko, “Wow! Ang ganda naman ng ambiance dito! Try natin dito Jan!” Jan was a little skeptical, kasi the place looked really expensive. Pero we asked for a menu and okay naman. So pasok kami. haha!

First, the place is really great. Sabi nga namin, okay dito mag date. (pero di kami nag date ha, just geek talk) Lights, color, temperature… amazing.

Jan with the tuna cream cheese maki and tuna salad

Jan with the tuna cream cheese maki and tuna salad

Their menu looked quite modest. Just the names and prices of the food and wala pictures. Pero okay lang. Tapos tapos, we ordered first ung Miso Soup nila.  It was great. Okay okay. Good good. May scallops. Good tofu.

Tapos nag tuna salad kami. Ay eto ang sarap! :D nung raw tuna. Pero di ko masyado na gustuhan ung vegetables kasi medyo bitter. O_o

They also served a separate sauce for the tuna salad.

Tapos, we ordered the tuna cream cheese maki. Ay eto patok din,  I like! The tuna in it was good, tapos may cream cheese. I don’t know, fan lang talaga ako ng tuna siguro. Raw or cooked. Kayalang when you eat this, sabi ni Jan wag ka ngingiti.  you will know why if you try one.

We didn’t order some fancy drinks like the shakes. We just asked for the green tea, which was also good. I liked their teacups.  hehe. One of the things I look for when I drink tea, is the after taste. Their tea was nice. It reminded me of a quiet afternoon in a quiet zen garden. :D

We also tried the unagi. Unagi was wonderful. Well kasi fan din ako ng unagi. Actually fan ako ng japanese food and naliligayahan ako talaga when it’s cooked really well. Yung ramen nga, wala pa ako nakikitang masarap na ramen dito sa philippines. As in.

A little later, we ordered the mixed tempura. Medyo nagulat ako kasi it wasn’t that expensive. The tempura sauce was also yummy. Two fat shrimps and vegetables.  hehe.

For our drinks, we ordered yung isang watermelon sake. Naaliw ako sa bottle, yun kasi ung may butas sa gitna. I was able to see something like that before, I wondered pa nga what was its purpose and yun pala, dun nilalagay yung ice. Para di mag mix sa drink. (galeng galeng!) By this time, amaze na amaze na ko and I kept shooting pictures.

Jan roasting a marshmallow!

Jan roasting a marshmallow!

The dessert part was fun, even if medyo common lang yung food. Smores! You could even do it at home. What really made it fun and worth it, was the presentation and the way they served it sa table.  They have this mini stove! Tapos dun mo roast yung marshmallows mo.

They served it with crackers and a generous whip of nutella. (or so i think it is).

One thing I’ve noticed too, is the wonderful attention given to you by the staff. They are very attentive and I always look for this in restaurants. They’re they kind of staff that you knew you’d pay a generous amount of tip after your meal.

They often changed the plates, made sure the table was clean and everything else was attended to.

I noticed that they also have a small sushi bar by the side, but we weren’t able to try that though.

So anyway, after we were done and after asking for the bill … natuwa ako kasi the receipt was wrapped up in a small green envelope :D awww. <3 cute.

The Kai restaurant in Greenbelt 5 was right on the money! I really recommend this place to people who are looking for a good place in Makati. :) They have good food, great ambiance, wonderful service and reasonable prices.  I would certainly go back here again! haha! Pero sabi ni jan, this time dapat may manlilibre na sakin.

Normal Sunday

“Wag na tayo pupunta ng megamall pag 3-day sale!” Jobelle told me awhile ago, holding my arm as we tried squeezing our way out of escalator. We have gone to megamall today, despite of it being overcrowded, in order to claim our Adidas singlet.

Unorganized. -__-

Unorganized. -__-

I sort of wished it more organized.

I brought my camera with me today, hoping to be able to take some shots for my assignment. I wasn’t able to, but I was able to practice anyway. It was difficult to switch modes, changing exposures and other settings. I guess that’s one of the things that will take a lot of time to get used to. Practice!

while in the changing room... :)

while in the changing room... :)

I realized that taking pictures was a little difficult if you’re alone, especially if you’re in a very public place. Let’s say, Divisoria or Baclaran at around 1 in the afternoon. Lately, every time I walk around, I see so many things that I’d like to take a picture of, but I can’t just whip out my SLR. -_- Deathwish.

You see, in the Philippines, people just come out of nowhere and grab your stuff. (well doesn’t happen all the time, but I live and grew up in a city that’s filled with stories of those, so it still makes me paranoid). If they don’t just snatch it from you, they would put a gun or a knife on your back, and persuade you to surrender your stuff. T_T

So, being with friends, increase my confidence in taking pictures while in public places. Actually I plan to ride the PNR one time. I was thinking of asking some of my batchmates to go with me. Rommel and Heff-sama are the ones who I think would enjoy it most… I think. They’re sort of adventures and spontaneous by nature.

Just discovered it today!

Just discovered it today!

Oh, I just discovered Bubbatealicios today. (tagal na ba to?) It was good!! Well, I really liked it. We ordered one cold iced coffee milk tea + sago. mmmmm. It was pretty good.

It wasn’t until around eight when we all planned to go home. We were trying to avoid stores like Mango (kasi I just knew na hindi ko mapipigilan bumili na naman).  By this time, the crowd was still thick, it was amazing.

… oh, will never go back in SM when it’s a 3-day sale. Every shopper seemed possessed or something.

Ready to go home?
